Peter Pilotto x Target: My Buys

The tweet above sums up my shopping trip to Target on Sunday Morning. I ventured out at about 9AM, not out of necessity but because I couldn't get back to sleep. On my side of town, I'm usually the only one who cares about the Target designer collections dropping and--as expected--I was the only person shopping the collection that morning. This actually was a good thing, because they only had one of each size out on the racks at a time (WTF?).  There was not a lot of variety in the store--no rompers, no jackets, no pants, and only one cardigan.  This wasn't that big of a problem for me, because I would never pay more than $35 for any item of clothing from Target, "designer" or not, and the jackets and most dresses were $50 and above.

I really only *had to have* the printed wrap skirts, and they were as cute in person as they were in the look book.  I saw a cute little tank that paired nicely with the black/gray/red wrap skirt so I scooped that up as well.  I tried on a sweatshirt, but I didn't love the print. To be honest, some of the prints in this collection were a little much for me, so instead of grabbing up everything like a fashion-hungry hungry hippo, I selected pieces that I loved and knew I would wear...unlike this dress from a past Target-designer collab.

What are your thoughts about the print-heavy collection? Did you buy anything, or are you waiting until they hit clearance racks?

Prabal Gurung For Target: What Did You Buy?

The much anticipated Prabal Gurung for Target collection was released this past Sunday. If you're like me, you were chomping at the bit to get your hands on these neon, floral, and tropical print items. I usually do my grocery shopping on Sundays at Target, so I had an excuse to go out early and check out the collection in stores. The Target closest to my house was so disappointing...none of the times I really wanted were there! No pointy toe flats, no floral blazer, sweatshirt, shorts, or floral dress with the full skirt. The display was well stocked so it was obvious that those items just weren't carried in that particular store. I ended up just buying the sleeveless blouse in "first date" print (pictured). Later that day, I searched on Target.com and found that another close-by store had all the goods, so I headed over there to see what I could grab. That store had a lot of items in stock, but I only ended up getting the shirt dress in "nolita" print. I was this close to getting a peplum top but I decided against it to preserve my budget lol! I tried on the floral blazer but didn't love the fit (too long on me), same thing with the floral dress and the black short-sleeved "first date" print dress, the hem on both hit me below the knee which was too long for my taste.

Did you purchase anything from the collection? I'd love to hear about it!
