Ladi Like Style: White Out

White Out

Maybe it is because I'm in wedding mode, but I have been drawn to the color white lately.  What started as a plan to wear white to every wedding related event (from the bachelorette party to my bridal shower) has turned into a full blown obsession.   I love a clean, crisp all white look, and of course the combination of black and white is classic.  With Spring right around the corner, I am expecting to see an abundance of white in the stores as it pairs perfectly with pastel shades--a big trend for Spring 2014.

Are you fan of white, cream, and ivory? How do you plan to wear it this Spring?

Ladi Like Style: Fan Girl

Fan Girl

As a lover of music, I can appreciate the trend of artist and music inspired clothing.  I have a few souvenir t-shirts from concerts I've attended, so rather than just keeping them in a shrine in my room it would be nice to get some wear of them. Although I prefer statement (word) tops to those with a huge face on it. Unless that face belongs to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.  Yes Lawd.

Would you rock clothes with a celebrity's face, or lyrics on it?

How to Wear: Fall/Winter Florals

How to Wear: Fall/Winter Florals

Beautiful blooms are not just for the Spring. Floral prints are gorgeous and appropriate all year long, but you may need to make a few changes for colder weather.

  • Opt for darker shades, like deep plums, blues, or a print with a dark background.
  • Layer lightweight fabrics over heavier materials, or under stylish outerwear.  If you are really feeling bold, choose floral printed outerwear!
  • Pair floral items with on-trend items for Fall/Winter like leather, over-the-knee boots, and anything in the color oxblood.

Are you rocking florals year-round?

Born Day OOTD

It's been a long time...I shouldn't have left you...*cue Eric B/Rakim beat*
Hey guys! For the last couple weeks I've taken an impromptu break from the blog and most social media. I've been so busy with wedding planning and doing work around the house that I haven't had the time to keep up with what's going on in the Twitter streets, and most of the time when I leave the house my clothes are less than blog-worthy...well unless leggings, an oversized sweater, and wedge sneakers are your thing. Any-who...I found a wedding dress (*squeals*), bought some lace up heels(!),  had buyer's remorse after my Phillip Lim for Target haul and returned that floral blouse, and last but definitely not least...I had a birthday (!!) which gave me an excuse to get dolled up.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target: What I Bought & How To Wear

Did you score any goodies from the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Collection?

From what I saw on instagram and twitter, shopping at Target on the morning the collection was released was reminiscent of Black Friday with crowds, lines and craziness.  One of the few benefits of living in a smaller, less fashion-forward city is that there aren't many people rushing out to buy these designer collabs. I made it to my local Target at around 10 am, the Phillip Lim section was relatively untouched and there was only myself and another lady looking at the collection. However, there was not a lot of variety available--my Target only had handbags in black and taupe, did not carry any of the pajama sets, and had none of  the clothing with leather details. I made my way to another Target and the scene was basically the same; I found a few more handbags (including the yellow mini satchel that IMO was way too small to be $35) but still no leather or pajama sets.

I purchased 4 items-- the animal print pullover and skirt, a floral print blouse, and a black top-handle crossbody.  I really wanted one of the large tote-bags, but I just could not bring myself to spend $50+ for a bag from Target no matter how cute it was.  My favorite piece by far is the animal print skirt--I cannot wait to wear it to work, for drinks, on date night, and everywhere else in between.  Below are some ideas on how to rock it, dressed up or dressed down!

The Button Up Shirt (Style Me Friday Link Up) OOTD

Top: Charlotte Russe (similar) / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: Steve Madden (on clearance now!) / Bag: The Limited
Necklace: Charming Charlie / Earrings: Asos / Lip: MAC Candy Yum Yum with a pink E.L.F gloss over it
TGIF! Friday at work means a laid back day in the office where I can wear jeans. I kept my look work appropriate with a button up top and pretty jewelry. To show a little personality (and a mood boost whenever I looked at my feet) I completed my outfit with a metallic shoe. Might I add, these Steve Madden beauties were only $15 bucks, down from $80! I know this phrase is played out now, but #WINNING! :)

This week I'm linking up again with The Fashionista Next Door. The inspiration for this week's Style Me Friday link-up is the button up shirt.

Ladi Like Style: Summer Color Play

Ladi Like Style

I am a big fan of color blocking. A fun way to incorporate it into your summer style is to pair a bold pair of yellow pants with a fab printed top and a bright green bag just for kicks.  These metallic flat sandals makes this the perfect weekend outfit for a street festival, doing a little shopping, or discovering hidden gems in your town.

How To Wear A Crop Top

How To Wear A Crop Top

With a High Waist Bottom. A high waist bottom minimizes the amount of skin shown and can provide a level of comfort for those trying a crop top for the first time. The location of the waistline is key to creating a flattering look. By wearing a bottom that starts right at your natural waistline, emphasis is brought to the smallest part of your waist. To camouflage a tummy or create an hourglass look, opt for a skirt with volume (such as an a-line cut or a skater skirt such as the center look above) or even a wide-legged or trouser style pant.

Ladi Like Style: Prim & Ladi Like

Prim & Ladi Like

I know absolutely nothing about flowers and my thumb is anything but green, however I can appreciate a great floral print. Nothing makes me feel more feminine than a floral print, and this outfit based around this lovely yellow floral dress is the true definition of Ladi Like.   From the full skirt to the soft pastel accessories  and classic pumps, this look is giving me all sorts of posh, pretty, and romantic style. I could totally see Charlotte from Sex and the City rocking this!

What do you think of of this look?

Hope you love this look as much as I do! If money were no object, I would own every single item... and probably wear this outfit at least once a week LOL!

Ladilike Style: Live In Shorts

Live In Shorts

I've never been a shorts girl.  A few years ago you couldn't catch me in a pair of shorts. I remember in college a group of my girls all decided to wear shorts to a party on a whim, but none of us owned a pair so we spent the whole day shopping.  Over time my style has evolved and now I am quick to throw on a pair of shorts on a hot day and I absolutely adore the variety of styles and prints available.

These white scalloped hem shorts are the definition of ladilike. They are gorgeous on their own, but they are downright droolworthy when paired with a lightweight patterned blazer.

While the first look skews a bit dressy, the center look features the quintessential "daisy dukes." Everyone and their mama had a pair of these super short shorts back in the day...even me! Paired with a cropped sweatshirt, this look is urban chic. Rihanna would be proud.

You all know I am a sucker for a global print so of course I had to feature a printed short. This pair is the perfect blend of a fun design with classic tailored with the front pleated detail, so I completed the look with a funky pair of heels (or metallic flats) and a crisp white blazer.

Will you be living in shorts this Summer?

Ladi Like Style: Tribal Glam

Ladi Like Style 1

I fell in love with printed top and even though I had the self control not to buy it, that didn't stop me from styling it! I tried my hand at print mixing with these multi-colored, multi-print sandals accessorized with a crisp white clutch and bold yet simple jewelry.  What do you think of the look? Let me know in the comments!
